En Cuba, la primera operación cesárea en madre muerta para el sabio bibliógrafo cubano don Carlos M. Trelles Govín (1866-1951), se practicó en La Habana en 1825, pero no se cita quien la realizó ni la fuente bibliográfica, documental o testimonial por la que conoció tan importante información. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo dar continuidad a la historia de la cesárea. En este momento, la búsqueda se enclavó en nuestro país y los inicios de este tipo de operación. Se realizó un recorrido por las diferentes etapas de la cesárea en Cuba. Sobre todo, en los doctores que, en su tiempo, fueron vanguardias en la ciencia(AU)
In Cuba, the first Cesarean section in a dead mother for the wise Cuban bibliographer, Carlos M. La historia de la Obstetricia ha estado indiscutiblemente ligada a una de las intervenciones quirúrgicas más antiguas que conoce la humanidad: la operación cesárea. La extracción del feto a través de las paredes abdominal y uterina, es practicada por el hombre desde la prehistoria. El objetivo del trabajo es presentar el desarrollo de esta cirugía obstétrica en la historia de la Medicina universal. Se revisaron 28 documentos contenidos en bibliotecas, portales digitales y textos. Se realizó la investigación de esta técnica quirúrgica a través de los años y se identificaron los momentos más importantes en su progreso, sus logros y reveses. Misterio, magia, sangre, leyenda y muerte definieron la historia de la cesárea desde su origen hasta la era moderna en que se lograron mejores resultados. La cesárea ha sido una de las cirugías de mayor permanencia en la historia de la Medicina, existiendo a lo largo de los siglos y controversial respecto a sus múltiples técnicas e indicaciones.
The history of obstetrics has been undeniably linked to one of the oldest surgical interventions known to humankind: cesarean section. Man practices the extraction of the fetus through the abdominal and uterine walls, since prehistory. The objective of this paper is to present the development of this obstetric surgery in the history of universal medicine. Twenty-eight documents contained in libraries, digital portals and texts were reviewed. The investigation of this surgical technique was carried out and the most important moments in its progress, its achievements and setbacks were identified. Mystery, magic, blood, legend and death defined the history of cesarean from its origin to the modern era in which better results were achieved. Cesarean section has been one of the most permanent surgeries in the history of medicine. Throughout centuries, it has been controversial with respect to its multiple techniques and indications.

El embarazo ectópico cervical es la implantación del huevo fertilizado a nivel del orificio cervical interno o por debajo de este. Se describe un caso de embarazo ectópico cervical en una paciente de 43 años con historia obstétrica de tres gestaciones, un parto por cesárea hace 19 años y un aborto provocado. El embarazo ectópico cervical representa 0,1 por ciento de los embarazos ectópicos y su diagnóstico se realiza a través de criterios clínicos, ultrasonográficos y anatomopatológicos específicos. En mujeres en edad fértil que asisten a consulta por sangrado vaginal o dolor abdominal, siempre hay que tener presente esta afección, en especial si presentan factores de riesgo. Su manejo está estrechamente relacionado con la edad gestacional, condiciones clínicas y paridad de la paciente. Actualmente su tratamiento es controvertido por su poca frecuencia. La conducta es emergente en casos complicados pues la hemorragia puede conducir a la muerte materna(AU)
Cervical ectopic pregnancy is the implantation of embryo at the cervical internal hole or below. Case report: A case of cervical ectopic pregnancy is described in a 43-year-old patient with obstetric history of three gestations, one childbirth by means of cesarean surgery 19 years ago and one induced abortion. The cervical ectopic pregnancies represent 0,1 percent of ectopic pregnancies and its diagnosis is carried out through clinical exam, ultrasonography and specific anatomic pathological approaches. When treating childbearing-age women who attend consultation due to vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain, doctors must always keep in mind this condition, especially if they have risk factors. The management of this condition is closely related with the gestational age, clinical conditions and the patient's parity. Its treatment is now controverted since it is rare. The medical action is emergent in complicated cases, because hemorrhage can lead to mother´s death(AU)
